The saying goes
"When God closes a door, He opens a window."
Well, I'm waiting for the glorious window to appear. I am patiently trusting but goodness gracious - it's a tough world!
To make it short&sweet, hired & let go all within the 90-day period by "A wonderful Non-Profit Organization" here in my big city. Forget helping the kids - these people are more concerned to make an event successful & then let go the employee that they {really} only hired as a temporary fix.
Not. Cool.
As you can imagine, life is being topsey-turvey again, thankfully I'm able to move in with a dear, sweet friend of mine and hopefully become roommates more permanently in the next couple of months!! Thank God for supportive family, Handsome man and wonderful friends!!
Okay, so enough of "real life" troubles - on to "real life" hopefully soon!
I spent the past weekend beginning the design of my website for the future event design company I'll be running... and boy - hats off to all you web guru's - I'm just doing "simple" website building, I see why you now make a grand off of one website!!!
I'm excited to get 'er up and running in the next month or so and to see if I get any hits of people needing my creative services!! It's nerve wracking, but you never know the demand until you stick your neck out!
Special thanks to another Short&Sweet Creative friend, who designed a logo for me -- complete with pearls!! If it wasn't for that logo, I probably wouldn't have gotten my rear in gear to start the website.
Some research is needed to see what people would "Google" or "Bing" to find my services - so it's a slow process, but I really enjoy learning all the while!
I have my LifeGroup meeting tonight with some fabulous ladies, so I must be off!
I'll keep ya'll posted on my where'abouts .... now that I have a bit more time ... sadly!

#1.0.2. - Dear Julia
Dear Julia,
I'm writing to you as one who looks up to your wisdom in words and as "la boulanger". You understand, you lived in France. If you were here today, I would eat up your wisdom like I was eating "le chocolat."
Your Friend,
B
Okay, so pardon my French Speaking / Julia Child / daydream.
But in all honesty, the woman was wise beyond her years. And I'd love to sit in her rustic, French kitchen and chat like we were old girlfriends. I hope y'all have all seen "Julie+Julia" {and in no way am I being paid to endorse the film} but because it's seriously a great inspirational movie.
The quote below makes me want to follow through with every dream I have - based on every interest and love of mine - & who says that I can't spend my life doing just that???
She knew about love too -
And if you ever wonder why "real food" tastes so good ... Julia {and Paula Deen} have the right idea ...
At the end of each day, it's the enjoyable things that will matter most ...
Go forward with your talents, and be fearless! After all, who will know what you don't accomplish other than you??

Creative Brain-Drain
It's been an embarrasingly long time y'all - do forgive me for the lack of posts on my behalf...
BUT I CAN EXPLAIN!!!!
You see, there's this tiny, itty bitty, teenie weenie, not-so-big-deal event that has consumed my every waking / working moment for the past 2 and 1/2 months. It's called only my non-profit's biggest fundraiser of the year. And ya know, being employed since only mid-August naturally, I was brought in to be
Lead Event Coordinator for it all.
But really, it's been baptism by fire these past couple of months. And not to complain, I'm more thankful than ever that my supervisor and team saw the potential in me - but boy, I'm sure looking forward to not tackling this monster for another year after this coming Sunday!
So, it didn't occur to me until tonight, while wandering aimlessly through one of my "happy places" {Tarjet} that the reason I have been basically brain-dead in the *CreaTive* department, is largely due to the fact that every day my creativity is drained, only to be slightly refueled by an hour or so of Pinterest'ing and 7-8 hours of sleep each night. And even then, no amount of wandering through the aisles of Jo-Ann's, HLobby or Michael's ~
has peaked my interest.
And y'all - that is just plain sad.
And frustrating.
But all of that ends this Sunday. I must say, I'm amazed, but not so "amazed" at how peaceful I feel about it all. I had one minor "eeek" moment last week, and asked for prayer for peace and strength from my Lifegroup girls, family + friends. And wouldn't you know - my supervisor even complimented me on "remaining so calm and collected during such stressful times"
Ha!
Thank you DC, but - I have no control over it!! Thank God for that one :-)
So, I've been "pinning" {or as I call it "Pinterest'ing"} last night and tonight, viciously adding to my "DIY to TRY" board, when I realize, I didn't ever lose my creative want, it's just not the time for it right now.
So, I have quite a few things I'd like to try... and I'm excited that Christmas is only a mere 2 months + some-odd days from now, so I can begin Christmas shopping / crafting!!
Yippee!!
Since I don't have any photos of recent accomplishments {just you wait til Sunday - I'll be sure to upload some from the food+wine festival} I wanted to leave y'all with something pretty to look at
...and maybe that will inspire you.
xoxo

Farewell Summer !
Hey Y'all ~
Labor Day is almost here, and that means kissing summer good bye!
It doesn't seem that long ago that the sunsets lasted til 9 p.m. When the beaches were packed with sunbathers, and I shopped only to seek air conditioning from one store to the next! I do love summer, though... {http://sassafrassandsouthernness.blogspot.com/2011/07/summer-lovin.html }
Fall is 19 days away, officially. The sun sets earlier now, the beaches, well - here in Florida they'll probably be packed for another month or so. And the heat - well, she can excuse herself any ol' time! Thanks to some tropical activity ... we've had a bit of a break from the 110% humidity and added cool breezes instead. Woo!
Now is the time to break out the grille, gather your friends for football watch parties and tailgates, look ahead to the fall decorations, and colored leaves on the ground. I saw my first leaf fall today and I almost squealed with joy. It was reddish yellow. Who cares if it was already those colors ;)
It's been a decent weekend thus far - FSU is 1-0 at the start of the season and I can't complain much about that! And tomorrow is Labor Day and no work! {although, I know that will come to bite me on Friday when I'm at deadline for 1209324 more things for our upcoming fall fundraiser!}

Bluegrass In My Soul
Hey Ya'll ~
It's only Tuesday {well, Tuesday is almost over, one hour to go} ... then it's Wednesday. And the week is half done. {that sounds negative... I should say... And the 3-day weekend is halfway here} But foreal, y'all it has been one heck of a week already!
God's grace is so good and so sufficient for me. And no matter what the trial is that I'm facing - I find myself surrounded in His love and mercy, forgiving me for the mistakes I have made, and guiding me to the life He has for me. All because I choose to be obedient to what is put in my heart.
My heart has taken a new direction, disappointingly, without the person I had seen being in my life forever. And although it's painful, I know that He works it all out for the best. Whatever His best is, it's not my time to know the plan. Lives change and people change, and sometimes the change you want isn't what the other has chosen, and therefore I chose a path of being alone, for now.
In an effort to continue being true to myself, I usually turn to music. I suppose it's the integral part that music has always played in my life, that brings such comfort to my soul.
Whether it's my Momma playing beautiful hymns on the piano, a powerful song that is sung with such fervor it gives you chills, or the most complex and yet simple combination of instruments - I find peace and comfort in music. It brings me home. And it reminds me of who I am.
I've always had a deep love in my soul for bluegrass ... I love the rawness of the fiddle, the harmonious blend of mens' voices, singing a truth that has been around for decades. Perhaps it's the bit of Kentucky in my blood - my Kentucky Papa sure appreciates my love for bluegrass. And I know a couple of my cousins have come to love it too. Some of my favorite bluegrass and truly Southern bands are
Blue Highway, Amanda Shaw, the Civil Wars duo, Amanda Shires (cast in Country Strong) and Schuyler Fisk.
I didn't really have much of a direction for this post - so I guess I will close with this sweet song by Schuyler Fisk and Tim Meyers ... Be My Only ...One day, when God has prepared my heart and the heart of the man he has for me, I will be so grateful for the roads I had to travel down to get to where I was meant to be.

It's A Calling
There's a joke around my organization's office that goes something like this ...
As I sit at my desk, not working directly with "our" children, I see the tasks piling higher and higher. The 18 emails that roll in during a 20 minute break. The constant meetings.
We're not in this business to get rich. This is a calling.
To some people, that may sound harsh.
To others, you may question "Well, why bother working there??"
And in the type of get-rich-quick / convenience first / "me first" society that we tend to live in, I can't blame people for thinking that way.
But, a job in a non-profit that benefits children who cannot help themselves, has been a "dream job" in my heart for over 5 years. Sure, I still want to one day be a full-fledged social/special events gal, or own a fun bakery+boutique, or open my own Pilates studio, but when it comes to where I wanted to be at this point in my life, I have landed. And thank the Lord above, I am loving it.
And I'm not writing about how much I love my job to convince myself or anyone else, but rather to count my blessings on where God has put me and the purpose that I'm serving. I was amazed at how instantly my teammate "Miss M" and I connected with each other. Our personalities are similar, our backgrounds are totally different, and we both rely on God! All that from the first full day I was at work. She hugged me and said "You know, I just had this feeling in my heart that you were the right person to be here with us". I jokingly said "Well, that's because I told God to handle this interview and job transition" ... and well, He did. And I'm ever so grateful for it!
As I sit at my desk, not working directly with "our" children, I see the tasks piling higher and higher. The 18 emails that roll in during a 20 minute break. The constant meetings.
....Just then, a happy little laugh resounds through the halls, as a child is on their way to see a clinical counselor or one of our M.D.'s. Or a cry of a child who is upset and confused, here for the first time getting the help they really need - and I'm suddenly reminded why I'm here.
My love for children and my heart to help them has brought me here. And when the days get long, the tasks become arduous, and when I want to say "just make it happen!!" without any effort on my part - all I have to do is see the face of any of the children or teens in our program and I'm instantly grateful for my life, my family, and all that has been provided to me. And I know that I'm raising the money and putting on the special events so that hopefully one day these kids can be grateful for the same things that I am.
This certainly isn't a preaching message. Nor is it meant to make you go out and adopt a bajillion children.
But do give thanks for the things you have, and consider the others in the world who have much less. We shouldn't just think of these children and families when they're "Angels on a Tree" in December, but year-round, while they're doing their best to survive. I encourage everyone to volunteer with some organization that fills your heart with joy.

Re-Cap!
Hey Y'all!
I haven't posted since Monday & it feels like a longgg time has gone by since then!
I'm now semi-settled back in my BigCity home, took a few days and still getting a hang of everything that is going on at work {loves coming in at "busy season" for events}. I feel brain-dead like after your first day of school after summer break!
Well to catch y'all up - a HUGE thank you to my amaaaazing family and friends who were able to move me on Monday. Obviously I'd still be unloading the Uhaul without you guys!
Tuesday was orientation at work and going for a pee-test during our lunch break. Big fun now. I was in orientation with 3 other girls around the same age as myself, so that was nice. And found out that it's a very small world :) lots of "2 degree connections"! Orientation was mostly boring, and didn't apply much to me. The other 3 girls are family life counselors and I'm over in "party planning" so my foreal orientation was today with my boss David. He's awesome, very relaxed, likes to joke around and said over and over again, that we have to have FUN at work, or else everyone gets too stressed and it just doesn't work! My "other half" we'll call her "m-girl" is awesome and funny and certainly supportive thus far! She works primarily with on-site events and tours, lots of face time and recruiting volunteers, as well as handling some of the bigger campaigns. I do most of the press releases, promotional design, and special events for 2 of our larger annual events.
Tomorrow is "Casual Friday" and we can wear NFL team apparel. I wonder if I can wear my NFL apparel although it won't be supporting "our city" team!? ;)
Last night was the first night Handsome Man has been in town since I moved here, so he took me to dinner at Ted's Montana Grille {yum!!} and we walked around the outdoor mall. It was so nice to just be able to relax together again :) He's traveling this weekend, before school starts on Monday. One last hooray!
I'm not sure of my weekend plans, but I am itching to sell that Hoosier cabinet I have in my living / dining room. And then put that money towards buying a couch or a TV. Not sure which I should get first!? ;)
Well y'all- sorry this has been a tad different from my other posts, but not really in the creative mindset just yet {not settled enough!!}. Hope everyone has a beautiful weekend !

Fall Weekend Plans
Hey Y'all!
It's Monday again and I've got a busy week ahead of me. Still taking things one day at a time, but definitely looking forward to getting a start date from my new employer, finding housing back in the BigCity, as well as finishing up some big projects around here!
Although I'm rigorously practicing "doing the next right thing" and not skipping ahead too much, I cannot help but get excited over some of the upcoming and highly rated fall festivals throughout the South. Once the glorious {i.e. - treacherous heated} days of summer are in our rearview mirror, the leaves start to turn and the breeze kicks up with football and outdoor tailgates and festivals. It's probably my most favorite time of year!
I wanted to share a few of the events that will hopefully be making their way onto my calendar this fall - and 1 that I especially loved from last year, that might not be possible for me to attend this year - but it's definitely worth mentioning!

Well, I think I have kept a secret long enough - the formal offer was on the table - and yours truly just accepted a job at an amazing national non-profit organization, back in my Big City!!!!It's amazing to me, how I have figured out what I want to do, by some crazy process of "spider webbing" {okay, I went to college, and I cannot think of whatever type of diagramming this is, so run with me} my interests, hobbies and such ...

Do you ever find yourself on vacation or living in a spot where the streets are filled with fabulous little "ohmygosh shops"?? I just have to share my love for finding those "just right" little stores. That sounds cheesy.

I'm Possible !
Hey Y'all !
I just wanted to post a shortie of some of fabulous little bits I have encountered lately {thank you, Pinterest}
Today is my interview, or rather, second interview with a wonderful non-profit organization in my BigCity. I secured the first phone interview on Tuesday and am more than happy and excited to be given the opportunity to meet face-to-face with the executive director & development director. Nervous? Yes. Prayed? Absolutely!!
I'm learning to be in control of my nervousness and thankfully the past few interviews have been great practice!

I felt that while I'll be out and about today ~ I shall leave you with some beautiful words I've come across lately...

Happy Saturday Y'all !
I've been a faithful little blogger lately and I really have the itch to keep it up! So in honor of the weekend,
I thought I would do a fun little free-thinking post about a secret ... I'm a fan of making lists. There. I said it.

When The "To Do" List Ends
Hey Y'all -
I have been thinking a lot lately about ambitions, goals, beliefs, dreams, and I suppose just life in general. Dangerously deep for me... but just to skim the cream from the top ... y'all know life does keep going without a "to do" list. Or a "wish list" or an "accomplish by..." list.
A hard lesson to learn for my Type-A personality. So this is my "ambition-wish-to-do list" .... and more importantly, what do you do when the "List" gets cut short...{And I don't mean death. So put away that extra frozen Crunchy Beef Casserole and the black pill box hat}
But really, life happens. And I thank God it does! Many times I would rather gripe {or pout, or resist, or be overly dramatic, or sad, or wistful} about a change, but change opens the door to possibility, to new friends, new loves, new growth and new adventures.
So when situations change, people change, you move, they move, jobs are gained, jobs are lost, loves are found, loves are lost, when it comes to the end of the day, where does your "List" stand?

I want to stand with my beliefs and dreams,
hold them tightly to me
for they are part of who I am,

Whirling Dirvish
Hey Y'all
It's the end of the weekend and I just wanted to share my whereabouts as of late. I've contemplated about how best to blog this for a little bit, and so here it is:
On May 31 I lost my job as a private nanny, which was really a blessing because I was just sticking with it until a better opportunity presented itself.
And, well, it did.
Although it didn't seem much of an opportunity or blessing at the time, with the support of Handsome Man, my family and best friends, I began to see the silver lining.
Within 48 hours of being unemployed, I had made the decision to move home to my "soft landing spot" at my parents home, 2 and 1/2 hours from my "city home" with Handsome Man and all of our friends, our church, and our social lives.
My furniture was up on Craigslist and sold within three days. The parents and Handsome Man were there on the weekend to move me back to my childhood home.
Although life was a whirlwind and I'm now a statistic in the unemployment rate, I couldn't help but be grateful for sticking with a job that I loathed, and only losing the job due to the ..ahem ... eccentric and unreliable nature of the family {4 nannies, now make that 5, in 2 years ... I don't think the nannies are the problem!!!}
What God will show me in the time I have ahead of me, is a mystery. I'm learning to have faith, more than ever before. And to take each day as it comes. All I can do, is have faith and take the step to do the next right thing.
I'm taking the time to save while having low overhead costs {THANK YOU M&L!!}, to dig deeper into my talents and am able to be more selective in my job hunt. I have hopes of returning "soon" {relative term} to my "city home" and landing a job that I will truly enjoy because I was able to be choosy. I'm excited to be given the chance to work on myself, inside and out, my relationships with family and friends now here in my childhood town, and to see what amazing things will come from this move.
I'm also working on writing content for my website to launch and promote my "dream business" of designing and coordinating special events. A few months back I landed on the name "Sugar Bean" - which is a combination of 2 special nicknames from some quite amazing people in my life - "Shug" or "Sugar" is what my Mama B {grandma} has always affectionately called me. And the "Bean" is a nickname among my closest friend and Handsome Man.
I officially own a website domain name and now I'm working on getting all the pieces together, from photos to web content, bio's and such ... all in a place where it can be pretty and functional!
My hope is to begin working with family + friends designing events {birthday parties, luncheons, meetings, socials, weddings, showers, etc} in my "city home" and my "childhood home" :)
The next big goal is the 5 yr plan, where I hope to be making a decent income from designing and coordinating events from the Panhandle to Central Florida. Call me crazy, but I believe in dreaming big.Over the years, I've seen where my talents emerge and I am so thankful that I have been given the inspiration to use them as a launching point for a career.
As I get more settled here at home, I'll begin a few projects ... the few pieces of furniture that did make the move will be needing a facelift soon, and I finally have a garage and yard to work in! And tools, galore! Hope you will check back and see where I'm headed! Even I don't know where that is, it's kinda fun :)
xoxo

Oh Beautiful Friday
Hey Y'all!
I am so very glad I have survived this week to see another Friday. Now, I hate to whine but here's my week in a short summary:
On Monday, I stepped on a 4ft long black garden racer snake.
On Tuesday, I was hit by Lil One and had to spend the whole day with her afterwards{that I nanny for}.
On Wednesday, I received the fabulous news of an interview opportunity for a job I'm pining over {events!}
On Thursday, Lil One hit me again. This time with a golf club {plastic, but to my face}. Soap in mouth+time-out.
Oh Friday, bring me something wonderful!!!
I really am praying about this upcoming interview. I've been in contact with the position's manager, it is a non-profit foundation where I would be focusing solely on large donors, fund raising, and event planning. Heavenly, is what I call it. After the week with Lil One, I'm anxious to get a new job!!! Thank you for those of ya'll who are already praying for me!
Tonight has been relatively quiet, I grabbed dinner in the rain from Chipotle {cannot live without!} and came home to begin transforming my dining area for our Cinco de Mayo party next week. It's so very calming and fun to me, to drag out all sorts of party props, throw on some music, and go to town! I'm very blessed to have wonderful friends who live here that will be coming over for a fun evening.
While in the midst of my productivity, I have watched {rather, listened} to Julie+Julia and also Breakfast at Tiffanys {have you ever noticed that her couch is made from an old footed bathtub? how green of her!}
I also worked on some cute tissue paper crafts from Martha Stewart's Cinco de Mayo article. Most of the time, I get in the middle of one of "Martha's Grand Idea's" and I begin to curse her stupid creativity. But, tissue paper art is simple enough for me! Can't wait to showcase the real-deal from our party next week.
What do your weekend plans entail? I hope to finish up the decor for our party, add my newest bedskirt to the bed {that was another item on the "101 Things To Accomplish By 2012"}. I scored a fabulous tailored white skirt at Tarjet {love} for $11 on the ENDCAP! Handsome Man would be so proud, he is an avid believer in all wonderful things are on the endcaps ... we shop those first :) Did I make you proud? If I'm feeling overly ambitious, I hope to paint the rest of my dining table and sand the oak table-top to re-stain. But, this probably won't happen considering I have my dining room all set for the party!
Before I go, I must say I'm happily surprised to have another reader :) thanks for your comment and following along!
Also y'all, one more thing ~ if you have any book suggestions, please pass them along to me {let's cross another item off the list. 10 new books by 2012}
xoxo

101 Goals Until 2012
Well, I am certainly not your typical "resolution" maker ~ which is obvious by the title of this post!
But, I've recently been inspired by my love of Listography {making lists by category} and have decided to make it public, as a little teensie motivation for getting my list of goals accomplished. The growing list of "Projects To Accomplish" sitting on my desk is slowly getting crossed off. Then there are other goals, for business plans and such that will find their way on here.
So here we go - 101 Things To Achieve {hopefully by 2012}
All for now ya'll. I am very thankful for having a reason to celebrate this Easter weekend! We serve a Risen Savior!! Easter Blessings to you!

Bloggers Block
Happy Sunday Y'all!
I'm taking a break from the Red Carpet Oscar shows to cuddle on the couch with Ry & Miss Izzy ((sweetest pooch ever!)) to blog a bit.
What has been your favorite vacation?

What is your favorite fashion accessory?
Absolutely is my collection of sterling silver monogrammed jewelry. Rings, bracelets, you name it, I've put my initials on it!
What is your favorite meal to cook for company?
I am not the person to ask about choosing just ONE meal, if you ask Ry, he will tell you it was my "once in a lifetime - best ever- can't be repeated lasagna florentine. But, I am going to have to choose Chicken Marsala. And more specifically, the recipe by Mr.Emeril Lagasse (Mr New Orleans, himself). It's a hands-down favorite of mine!
What is your favorite room in your house?That would probably be my bedroom. I love my Euro pillows, throw pillows, fluffy duvet, all white bedding, chandelier over my bed ... it's easily the favorite room. And the hardest to decorate!!
If you could go back to college (for fun) what would you study?Eek! I just want to go back to have fun :) but, I think it would be for interior design. Although I think my love for decorating would be hindered by all the "rules" of design... but still could be VERY fun!
What is one skill/talent you wished you possessed or were better at?Probably sewing. I am decent, but I still have to call my Momma for questions when I'm working on a project!

It's fun to make things that are custom to wear or have in your own house!
Here's hoping y'all got a chance to get some sunshine this weekend, and spend time with the ones you love.
I have a very busy week starting tomorrow, long days with Lil One and am already looking forward to next Friday/weekend!

Islands Recouperation Part I
Hey Ya'll!
Well I made it back from the beautiful island of Providenciales, or Provo. . . where Grace Bay Club hosted me for 6 luscious days. I basked in the 85 degree sun, had a blissful massage on the beach cabana, enjoyed my "work" time with Lil One, and, despite it all I'm glad to be back home. Although I could do with a 20 degree increase in weather here. It's amazing to me how quickly I adjust again to loving shorts and tanktops, and bathing suits from 9A-9P, reeking of suntan lotion and salty air all day long. It won't be too long before we're back into the warmer seasons ... I'm anxiously awaiting them now! ((Remind me please, in August when I'm crying for cooler temps))
My weekend plans shifted and I was probably more productive today than originally planned.
Up at the crack of dawn, I was determined to unpack the luggage and in the process (my attention-span-lacking) - began to overhaul my closet. As quickly as I could, I tossed out clothes I hadn't worn. Or that I wasn't going to wear. Then I shoved all the dark, long-sleeve, woolen clothing into the deepest depths of closet-dom. ((I know, I know, now I have to wander there to get clothes for the next month or so)) It does something to my psyche to see nothing but bright and cheerful colors, tank tops, sundresses and Lilly Pulitzer galore in my closet. What can I say - I'm an easy girl to please :)
The afternoon was spent with my former college roommate, who lives just nearby. We made some cute Valentine'y crafts for our loves and then I came home, only to continue working with the craft bug having bitten me. Before I knew it, I'd whipped out a bunch of "scrapbook style" sweetheart cards to mail to family members.
I'm not sure about ya'll, but I'm such a visual person and having my goals and crafting projects listed out in my face reallllly keeps me on track :) As all creative minds are prone to wander, we have to harness eventually, sit down and complete our projects. Besides that, I promised ya'll in my last post that I'd be crafting up a storm and so I know ya'll will hold me to it for pictures (aka: proof!)
Well, it's a quiet Saturday night for me. The bedroom isn't fixed up quite yet from my "unpacking" and "Goodwill pile making" so I am going to fix that up and call it a night. Church is tomorrow morning , which I've missed dearly while being on vacation.
I've taken Monday off from Lil One to fix a gourmet meal /& for Handsome Man & I on our
Enjoy the rest of your LOVEly weekend!
